ABOUT US

Born in rural Kaufman, Texas and Jefferson, Texas (respectively) our grandparents are the late Bismark Thomas, Jr. and Mary Louise Greenwood Thomas.  Both are the epitome of what it means to bring a community together.  Having owned businesses and providing jobs and opportunities to those who needed them they gave back more to Kaufman County than they could ever even receive in gratitude.  Not only owning their own businesses, Bismark was also an educator at the WH Burnett High School and Mary was a County Extension Agent in Kaufman County.  With both being heavily involved in the community, local churches, as well as being mentors to the development of youth, it is the desire of the grandchildren to preserve the legacy that was exemplified by our grandparents.

The Bismark & Mary Thomas Community Center (BMT CC) is a local organization headquartered in Terrell, Texas.  It was founded to promote the total empowerment and development of youth in Terrell, as well as surrounding areas.  BMT CC is an independent non-profit organization which seeks to instill Life Skills in our youth as well promote a better Quality of Life that they can then in turn utilize at home as well as at school and beyond.  It also seeks to empower youth in the area of the advancement of the economy and promotion of human and children’s rights.

What we intend to do at the BMT CC is to help youth find their path all while staying on the right track and gain positive life skills, by providing support, training, counseling and mentoring to as many as we can reach.  We firmly believe that once youth are placed on the right track, and they are given the needed support and platforms, there is no limit to what they can achieve for themselves and for the community at large.
